Elite athletes have been fuelling at up to 90g carbohydrate per hour, using a 2:1 glucose-fructose formulation, as science supported that this was optimal for peak performance. As performance demands have increased, science has evolved, and TORQ’s is proud to release its new 1:1 PROTO range. Utilising a new 1:1 maltodextrin-fructose formulation, 1:1 PROTO allows elite athletes to realise their potential at higher intensities, enabling them to fuel at an ultra-high 120g+ carbohydrate per hour.

How does TORQ 1:1 PROTO work? 

2:1 is optimal for any fuelling requirements up to 90g carbohydrate per hour.

1 x TORQ 2:1 unit = 30g carbohydrate, available via Gels, Bars, Jellies or Energy Drink 500ml.

3 x 2:1 unit = 90g. 90g = 60g glucose + 30g fructose.

Science, research, and testing have shown that if the glucose transporter in the gut is saturated at 60g per hour, you can absorb and utilise more fructose than previously thought.

Each 1 x PROTO 1:1 Gel or Energy drink contains 40g carbohydrate, comprising of 20g maltodextrin and 20g fructose.

3 x 1:1 PROTO ATUs (Advanced TORQ Units) = 120g, comprising 60g glucose + 60g fructose.

How do I gut-train from 90g to 120g?

Through a combination of TORQ’s 2:1 and 1:1 units. As shown in the table, glucose/maltodextrin ingestion is maintained at 60g/hour, to minimise gut distress. Fructose increases in 10g increments from this point, allowing you to train your gut to absorb higher volumes of fructose, up to a combined total of 120g+.
